Section 80g provides tax benefits on donations but within the prescribed limit and conditions. Depending on the type of institution the deduction is either 50% or 100% of the amount donated. However the total claims may not exceed 10% of adjusted gross income. Donors should ensure that the ngo has a valid 80g certification and provides official receipts to get the profit benefits.
