Workforce-related Challenges in India's Retail Sector
India’s retail sector contributes significantly to the country’s economy. It contributes around 10% to India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The sector is a fragmented one consisting of departmental stores, kirana stores, e-tailers, etc. Over 35 million people work in India’s retail sector. They occupy around 8% of the country’s workforce. However, retail enterprises continue to grapple with workforce-related challenges.
