Your pet will be admitted by your Vet or Nurse at your usual surgery on the day of assessment, and if your pet requires a sedation for his or her exam (abdominal ultrasound mainly) then an intravenous cannula will be placed to allow easy and painless sedation.
Patients for abdominal ultrasound will need to be starved for 12 hours before the procedure. This is to avoid any important structures being obscured by food and gas and to avoid patients having reflux while under sedation, which can cause a variety of other problems. https://www.soundwaveimaging.co.uk/
