Southwest Airlines has a unique open seating policy for Southwest Seat Selection. This means that seats are not assigned when you book your ticket. Instead, passengers are assigned a boarding group (A, B, or C) and a position (1-60+) when they check in for their flight. Passengers can then choose their seats once they board the plane.
