Rakshabandhan: A Divine Thread of Safeguarding Love
An important Indian holiday that celebrates the close relationship between siblings is Rakshabandhan. In order to express her love and prayers for her brother's wellbeing, a sister ties a Rakhi, a sacred thread, on his wrist during the holy month of Shravan. The brother gives her gifts and promises to protect her in exchange. This festival, which has its roots in mythology and history—from Draupadi and Krishna to Queen Karnavati and Humayun—embodies the virtues of unity, trust, and protection.
